Supernatural convention panel videos

Tahmoh was at two Salute to Supernatural conventions in January. Kate Deth and SPCMRose, two of our lovely followers on Twitter found videos on YouTube that they shared with us on Twitter. Thanks to both, and to ScarredByWinchester and Toridactyl EmCeHenry who uploaded the clips for those of us who weren't at the cons.

Also, SUPERnatural Untouchable has a collection of live-tweets from Tahmoh's panel along with pictures at the convention in Houston. A lot of people also tweeted pictures and quips from the panels, so take a look at our Twitter for those.

For an updated list of Tahmoh's convention appearances this year, see here (the link can be found at the top of the site and will be updated once we have news of his other convention appearances).

Videos from Jus In Bello con in Rome

One of the best things about Supernatural conventions is all the full-panel videos! They've all been tweeted via @AboutTahmoh, but I thought making them available in one post will be easier for future reference. So here they are in order:

Friday, May 23rd. Ty Olsson (also BSG's Captain Kelly) and Tahmoh's panel.

In two parts, Tahmoh's panel with Rob Benedict on Saturday, the 24th.

Sunday's panel with Mark Shepard (BSG, Dollhouse)

It's always part of Supernatural's conventions to end with a little gig by Jason Manns. Jason is apparently joined by convention guests all the time, and they got Tahmoh up on stage to join in the singing at around the 4 minute mark.

And as a little bonus, Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) talks about why Tahmoh hasn't been pranked on set, around 20 minutes 20 seconds into the video below.

Enjoy! And it looks like Tahmoh's also converted a new generation of BSG fans as we've been getting a lot of notifications on @AboutTahmoh from fans saying how much they love BSG and Helo!

More on "The Hostage"

On Wednesday, January 20, Aleks Paunovic, Brent Cote, and Tahmoh ... okay not quite Tahmoh ... appeared on the show Urban Rush to promote the January 21 fundraiser for their independent film The Hostage. A portion of the proceeds from that event were donated to World Vision for relief in Haiti. Tahmoh was supposed to join them on the show, but was feeling under the weather. Not to worry. His good friend Aleks made sure Tahmoh made a special appearance.

Michelle at Battle_Star Blog posts a video of the appearance, which gives more information about the film and quite a few laughs as well.

Although the event has already taken place, you can still donate at Event Bee.

Photos, set visits, interviews for Dollhouse & Battlestar

Here is a roundup of some of the latest Tahmoh-related news about Battlestar and Dollhouse. Enjoy and see you in the New Year!

Battlestar Galactica - "Sometimes A Great Notion" (4.13) promo photo:

High-res version of the "So Fox, So Fresh" photo campaign shot:

TV Guide Q & A with Eliza Dushku, mentions Tahmoh's character:

Does Echo get into any serious scrapes? [highlight to read spoiler]

Tahmoh Penikett [of Battlestar Galactica] plays FBI agent Paul Ballard, and he’s been investigating the dollhouse for years. He and I just shot a four-page Muay Thai [boxing] , dirty fight scene- I still have bruises.

Dushku talks more about Dollhouse in another TV Guide interview here.

Mother Jones and Dreamwatch interview Joss Whedon about Dollhouse.

Helo will be on the cover of the Galactica Role-Playing Game:

Time's TV critic, James Poniewozik, has seen the Dollhouse pilot and is mostly pleased.

Mark Shepherd will guest star on Dollhouse and interact with Tahmoh's character, Paul Ballard [spoilers].

Read more about Dollhouse in the latest edition of SFX magazine (178):
"It's great, being in Dollhouse with Tahmoh," Shepherd said, thinking of the great camaraderie that exists on Joss Whedon shoots. "Just walking onto a set and him being there, Joss being there of course… A lot of fun for me ..."

Airdate, new trailer and positive buzz for Dollhouse

FOX has announced that Dollhouse will premiere on Friday, February 13th at 9pm, paired with the terrific Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at 8pm. With Battlestar (which returns on January 16th) then airing at 10pm on Sci-fi, it promises to be quite the sci-fi/genre programming block.

A new trailer for Dollhouse, which more succinctly lays out the premise, has also been recently rolled out. Watch it now!

io9 recently offered a rave review for Dollhouse, highlighting why: "Dollhouse Will Be Joss Whedon's Greatest Work Ever." Tahmoh features prominently among those reasons:
It has a pretty great supporting cast.

I would pretty much watch Tahmoh Penikett try to refinance his mortgage. As Paul Ballard, the FBI agent who keeps investigating the Dollhouse even though everybody insists it's a myth, he's bound to be a compelling character — even if they don't keep in the scene where he does Thai kick-boxing while brooding about his tough case. And from what I've seen from clips and trailers, the rest of the cast is equally strong, delivering the trademark Whedon quips and knife-edge dialogue with panache.

Official Dollhouse website, wiki, interview with Tahmoh

FOX has launched an official Dollhouse website and wiki for fans. Not much there yet, but worth checking out. Here's the official site title art:

The Dollhouse wiki page for Tahmoh is woefully empty, so if you're so inclined, edit away!

A Television Without Pity poster saw the pilot for Dollhouse and posted some comments to the board, including his belief that Tahmoh was "perfectly cast." To read his whole reaction, see this post.

FoxSource has posted interviews with some of the attendees--including Tahmoh--at last month's Fox Eco-Casino Party to YouTube. They chat about Dollhouse, Tahmoh's exercise regimen, love of muay thai, etc.

Battlestar Wrap video with new photos of the cast

A 16-minute wrap video made for Galactica director Michael Rymer features some footage and alot of still shots from some of the final season 4 episode filming. The whole thing is quite spoilery, so beware. It can be downloaded via links over at Battlestar Blog.

wisteria_ has helpfully created two different galleries of shots from the video: spoilery and non-spoilery.

bubbleitupchick has screencaps of just Tahmoh and Grace Park, but be warned the post features a very spoilery photo at the end.

All the nonspoilery photos of Tahmoh are up on the All.about.Tahmoh Flickr.

Behind-the-scenes videos from Battlestar and Dollhouse

Two funny videos to watch today. The new Galactica videoblog is on the set of the midseason finale with the behind-the-scenes details of filming and some suitably humorous commentary. The cast is in the background huddled together under cute umbrellas, like so:

Thanks to MaliB for the screencaps! Here's the full video:

Then E!Online's "Watch with Kristin" has posted a hilarious video of Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku from Dollhouse chatting with Niecy Nash and Jerry O'Connell of Do Not Disturb. The whole thing is funny, but at the very end Joss brings up Tahmoh.

Updated trailer for Dollhouse; more news & reviews

An updated trailer for Dollhouse has been posted to Dollverse.com with improved graphics and a few new scenes and lines of dialogue.

See the All about Tahmoh flickr for approx. 50 screencaps of Tahmoh in the trailer by toomanysides. Be warned that seen together the screencaps are rather spoilery (much more so than the trailer above).

How excited are you for Dollhouse? Vote in the poll at right. ----->

Entertainment Weekly has a fun behind-the-scenes look at the series and new photos from the pilot and on set.
Whedon says that, like Buffy and Firefly, Dollhouse aspires to be both deep (how does society shape, influence, ''program'' the individual: discuss!) and fun.
This photo seems to follow the special sneak peek scene between Paul (Tahmoh) and Echo on view at seat42f.com.

Reviews and reactions to Dollhouse are now appearing. David Bianculli (of TV Worth Watching and NPR's Fresh Air) writes:
After a week of seeing (or not seeing) pieces of the new fall TV series, Dollhouse and Fringe were the first shows that were more captivating than disappointing... Dollhouse, based on the premise, the cast, Whedon's reputation and the enticing clips shown, is my first-impression pick -- subject to seeing the full pilots of all the shows, of course -- as the best new show of the 2008-09 season.
The Hollywood Reporter was on hand at the LA Screenings and reports:
The complex set for one of Fox's big pushes at the Screenings, Joss Whedon's sci-fi fantasy "Dollhouse," went up in less than two weeks. Footage for a pilot was in the can in as much time. And yet the series created considerable buzz among buyers over the weekend based on just an eight-minute showcase.
Dollhouse was picked up by CanWest Media (for Canadian distribution) and Channel Ten (Australia).

First trailer for Dollhouse: "linchpin of the Jan. season"

The two and a half minute trailer for Dollhouse that aired at the FOX Upfronts today is now up on YouTube. It's a must-see early look at the series, which is reminiscent of the Bourne Identity and Alias.

Update: YouTube link is down. Watch it here or here.

The most exciting news after the trailer is that FOX has decided to air Dollhouse with fewer commercials:
"We're going to have less commercials, less promotional time and less reason for viewers to use the remote," Liguori said. "We're going to have more character, more content, more value."

"Remote-free TV. It's a simple concept and potentially revolutionary," he said. "We're going to redefine the viewing experience."

Both "Fringe" and "Dollhouse" would have network commercial loads of about five minutes per hour, about half the usual. The commercial pods also would be shorter, and they would have about half the promo load as well, all to enhance the viewing experience. Liguori and ad sales chief Jon Nesvig acknowledged that there was a risk but that the network was committed to doing those two shows that way.
FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke about the show's scheduling:
"Dollhouse" will be a "linchpin of the second season," Reilly says, launching around the same time as network perennials such as "24" and "American Idol."
Wired presents their first peek at the series, with a few spoilery hints. They also remark re: Tahmoh:
Whedon tapped Battlestar Galactica stud Tahmoh Penikett to stand in as Echo's twisted love interest and an FBI agent obsessed with the urban myth of a such a "Dollhouse."
Update: Turns out the YouTube trailer above wasn't what was shown at Upfronts. The Upfronts trailer had more Tahmoh, including the scene captured below of Echo (Eliza Dushku) and Paul:

Update: Watch the one-minute clip the above screencaps are from here.

Frakking hilarious Battlestar Galactica recap (video)

If you haven't yet, you must watch the frakking awesome 8-minute recap of Seasons 1-3 of Galactica. Helo features rather largely in it due to his plot-heavy arc.

It's up over at Scifi.com or IMDB for international fans.

I've also uploaded the early Helo promo pictures from Season 1 that surfaced a few weeks ago to the site's Flickr for ease of browsing. All of them are watermarked, unless fans have photoshopped them, like this terrific one above.

Brief on-set interview & first look at BSG Season 4

Canada's Space channel recently visited the Battlestar Galactica sets during filming and had the opportunity to chat with Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber and Tahmoh.

The actors each speak briefly about the fourth season and what it means for the series to be coming to an end. Interspersed with the interview segments are clips from an upcoming Season 4 scene that should be considered spoilery.

Here's what Tahmoh said (& some screencaps) for those of you who can't watch:

"This show has always been recognized for how realistic it is in its storyline and what have you. And I think they realized we had to eventually get to Earth. We were just coming to the end; it was finally at that point. If they really wanted to, they could stretch it out and maybe give us a season 5, but I don't think it was the right thing to do--out of respect for the show. And so I think, as the actors involved in the show, we also respect that. We're all very, very sad to see it go; that's all there is to it, but we know why, we understand why."
You can watch it streaming on Spacecast, if you can bear to watch an interview with Elisha Cuthbert about the horrible Captivity movie first.

Or you can download just the 3 minute BSG portion of the show, thanks to Michelle from Aaron Douglas Fans.

Trailer for Taming Tammy (2006)

A short preview for this upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," in which Tahmoh plays Wilson, an arrogant plastic surgeon has been posted to MySpace. You might recognize one of its stars, Aleks Paunovic, who played Sgt. Fischer (killed on the Algae planet) on Battlestar.

Tahmoh's only in the trailer very briefly, but here's a screencap:

You can see a different, higher res photo of Tahmoh on the set as well as find out more about the movie, in my previous posts about Taming Tammy.

Here's a synopsis of the plot:
A lively modern day adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” which takes the battle of the sexes to the extreme with ex-champ boxer, Sy “The Bruiser” Balkovich, and feisty sex toy seller, Tammy “The Shrew” Taylor.

Tammy has moved back home to take care of her ailing father, Burt, also an ex-boxer. Her brother, Tristan, a strong, quiet, athletic gay man, lives at home and is dating Lucas, a sweet, flamboyant restaurant manager. Burt has resigned himself to his son being gay but he would prefer that his son he be with someone who can take care of him when he’s gone and he thinks Lucas is an unsuccessful deadbeat. Burt also wants Tammy to have her life in order before he passes so he introduces her to Damon, the VP from his company, hoping that they would hit it off and she would be taken care of and happy when he’s gone.

Unfortunately, Damon is in the ‘closet’ and finds himself more attracted to Tristan than Tammy. On top of this, Lucas is determined to prove to Burt that he’s good enough for Tristan so Burt makes an ultimatum: no one can be with Tristan until they find someone to be with Tammy!

This is no small task since Tammy’s shrewish reputation has preceded her at every turn and Damon and Lucas can’t find a single willing match. That’s until Lucas turns to his roommate, ex-champ boxer Sy “The Bruiser” Balkovich who desperately wants a chance to showcase his songwriting at Lucas’ bar. Lucas tells him if he can get Tammy to go out with him, he’ll put him on stage.

Only question is, will the toughest guy in town be tough enough for Tammy?

Tahmoh talks to Space about Season 3

If you haven't seen them already, be sure to check out the two brief video interviews Canada's Space Channel did with Tahmoh sometime during Season 3. They each run about a minute.

Part 1 - watch clip

Tahmoh talks about the way BSG shows the flaws and dark sides of characters.

Part 2 - watch clip

Tahmoh talks about filming the difficult, emotional scenes in "Rapture" and working with Eddie Olmos & Mary McDonnell.

Helo/Sharon scenes we never saw...

Jeff over at Kindreds has assembled a short (4 minute) clip of all the Helo/Sharon scenes that have shown up in previouslies or previews that never made it into the final episodes.

You can just download the clip and watch them, but he's also compiled an illustrated list of lost scenes with descriptions, in case you're curious as to what we've missed.

It's a fascinating list. Like I never realized Helo went sliding down a chute while down in the sewers on Caprica in "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down":

Or apparently there was also a kiss during "Rapture" we missed:

Poor Tahmoh and Grace, they do all these stunts themselves and they get left on the cutting room floor. Heh.

See the full list and download the clip.

Photos and clips of Tahmoh on "Smallville" [2004]

Thanks to Jeff over at the excellent Helo/Sharon fansite, Kindreds, you can see Tahmoh's guest appearance on Smallville from 2004. He's made clips of Tahmoh's scenes and posted 10 screenshots as well.

Go see the clips and the photos.

Tahmoh has talked about shooting this episode in several interviews. With all the lying in bed in the hospital scenes, he apparently fell asleep between takes!

I previously posted screencaps here.
