More BSG Season 2 Spoilers

For those interested, Chris Howell over at the Great Link has posted excerpts from an interview with Toni Graphia, co-producer and writer for Sci-Fi’s Battlestar Galactica.

The full interview by Steven Eramo is available in Issue #190 of the UK’s TV Zone Magazine. Does anyone have the mag or scans of it?

Beware of spoilers!
Some promising tidbits about Helo's future are hinted at... ooh, the drama.

More Hush Screen Caps

For your viewing pleasure, I bring you more caps of Dr. Noah, today in leather. Thanks to un4scene for the caps!

Personally I'd never have chosen a pitchfork as a decorative accent (see pic 3), but I guess it's appropriate considering the movie.

"Born-Again Battlestar"

Ok, so this article by Ellen Leventry is only tangentially related to Helo/Tahmoh, but it's really interesting. It discusses the role religion(s) play in BSG and has quite a few quotes from Ron Moore.

Born-Again 'Battlestar'
Drawing from Mormonism, Roman polytheism, and even Buddhism, the reimagined sci-fi TV series is steeped in religion.

“The Cylons in the show focus on the soul; they firmly believe that they have a soul. …Human beings have souls given by the gods, and Cylons have a soul given by their one true god and that has to be just as valid,” says Moore.
As Helo and Boomer's baby seems to be at the center of the cylon belief structure, I'd say it has some pretty real effects on Helo's life.

The music of Battlestar Galactica

Bear McCreary, the composer of BSG, has posted two new interviews onto his website. The first, "Creating the New Sound of Battlestar Galactica" is a long, really interesting interview from TheLogBook.com.

When asked if any changes are in store for Battlestar Galactica's opening titles and music (along the lines of Babylon 5's annual main title changes), McCreary revealed that he doesn't know just yet:

"I have no idea. I could see them doing that, though, because there is a much larger storyline, each season will probably take on its own character and its own tone. Season one was about the aftermath of the miniseries, and season two deals much more with heavier personal tragedies happening to these people."
The second interview, "Visions in Sound: The Music of Bear McCreary" is a radio interview with CKMS 100.3FM. It includes interview clips and clips from the show's soundtrack, including "Helo Chase."

Remember La-La Land Records is taking pre-orders for Battlestar Galactica: Season One soundtrack through their web site , and pre-ordered copies will be autographed by Bear McCreary himself (the CD will be available in June).

Thanks to Sci-fi for pointing these out.

"Six Degrees of Separation" Tonight @ 10/9c

Tonight's ep is one of my favorites, what with the Baltar/Six/Shelley craziness and the Helo/Boomer action. It's also the ep with the infamous "crazy forest sex" so be sure to watch.

Meanwhile, dual Sharons face their own challenges — on Caprica, she and Helo are on the run from Cylon centurions; on the Galactica, she's terrified of being exposed as a Cylon herself.
Watch the preview here. (hmm, seems not to be working right now...)

Go to scifi.com for a more complete summary and one deleted scene.

Happy Birthday Tahmoh!

It's Tahmoh's birthday today. Hopefully he's enjoying a fun day with friends.

If you want to wish him well, the girls over at Hidden Elysium are hosting a birthday thread that will be mailed to Tahmoh.

Spoilers for eps 6/7 of BSG Season 2

Spacen over at the Pegasus Galaxy Forums has posted extensive spoilers for Galactica's sixth episode:

206 - Home: Part I
Some interesting Helo revelations included, though I grow very concerned that Helo will not figure as prominently in Season 2.

Thanks to Sci-fi and Spacen for the heads up!

I've added the Helo relevant bits as a comment to the post, but for context go visit the Pegasus Galaxy site.

UPDATE: The Battlestar Wiki has posted a short description of ep. 7, "Home, Part II" which, um, continues Part I.

Sign a Birthday Card for Tahmoh!

Hidden Elysium: a Helo/Boomer fan community over at Live Journal is hosting a birthday thread for Tahmoh:

Happy Birthday Tahmoh!

Tahmoh Penikett's birthday is this Friday, May 20th. Please comment and wish Tahmoh well. At the end of the week we'll print this thread up and mail it to Tahmoh.
Go add your well wishes!

New BSG Season 2 Spoilers?

I added the question mark because I'm not sure about the validity of the source. However, most of what's said does seem in keeping with what we've heard from other sources.

With that disclaimer in mind, some more spoiler tidbits have been posted over in the BSG forum on ezboard.

Read at your own risk.

For your ease of viewing I've also added them as comments to this post.

Poll: Will you watch Tahmoh in Hush?

Tahmoh's new movie, Hush, will premiere next Monday, May 23rd at 9pm et/pt on Lifetime.

Hush
Newlyweds Nina and Noah are about to face off with a demon ex-girlfriend like no other!

Starring Tori Spelling, Tahmoh Penikett and Victoria Pratt.
You can read more at Lifetime's website.

So, will you watch?

(For more on Hush, check out the career news archive.)

Poll Results: On Galactica, Helo should...

So I asked in last week's poll, "Who in the crew are you most looking forward to Helo interacting with, if he gets back to the ship?"

And the answer is...

1. Chief Tyrol (35%)
2. Apollo (33%)
3. Galatica Boomer (28%)
4. Baltar (3%)
5. Crashdown (3%)
The Helo/Chief interaction should be very interesting. I mean he knocked up Tyrol's girlfriend (or the woman he thought was Tyrol's girlfriend).

Apollo... I guess because it's doubtful Helo will be good at taking orders upon his return? Because of a possible rivalry with Apollo in terms of Starbuck's friendship? The pretty factor?

If you voted for Apollo, I'd be interested in knowing why...

And Helo meeting up with the original GalBoomer would of course be rife with tension/angst.

Someone pointed out (and I agree) that it'll be damn interesting to see Helo/Baltar interact when Helo realizes he gave up his seat to the guy indirectly responsible for the destruction of the colonies...

Because graphs are fun:

Behind-the-Scenes Photos from Under the Cover

I know alot of you had a chance to see Tahmoh in Under the Cover, which I posted about a week ago, but I thought I'd point out that ZeD also has posted behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

Sadly most don't feature Tahmoh, but here are a couple I found:

Now you see him...

Their characters have kissed Helo, so...

I say they're fair game as far as Helo-related news goes. Both Grace Park (#81) and Tricia Helfer (#83) made Maxim's Hot 100 for 2005, which you can read about here. At Maxim's site you can also see Tricia and Grace's photos, read their interviews and watch their videos. Here's a Helo-related excerpt from Grace Park's:

Now the crucial query: Do Cylons get it on?
I had to do this one sex scene for Battlestar that wasn’t a bedroom scene. It was outside in a forest under a lightning and thunder shower. I was like, “So you want some crazy forest sex? OK, I gotcha.” In the end they had to totally edit it down and take out all my moaning.

Any other X-rated bloopers?
Yeah, one of the wardrobe ladies offered me this neoprene little patch before the scene. We told her we were already sitting on a blanket and didn’t need it. We do the whole scene and both suddenly realize, We were supposed to use the pad in between us. Ha-ha!

So that performance was quite realistic.
I know. I remember thinking, Oh, my God! I am totally making out with this guy and completely grinding him! What the hell’s going on? And that thought just completely pulled me out of the scene because I was so into the action.
Ahem. You can also see video interviews with both of them during their Maxim/Stuff magazine shoots. I've linked to Grace Park's before. But both are now up on Maxim TV. (Click on the photo of Tricia in the 2nd row on the front page to see the vids).

Both discuss BSG and Tricia's even shows the clip of Number Six kissing Helo. She also mentions some recent work she's done.

In any case, they're both very hot women and the music videos/interviews are interesting as well as aesthetically pleasing...

As I recall, Tahmoh diplomatically avoided really commenting on his scene with Grace during his interview on Subject 2 Discussion, but you can go hear/read for yourself here.

Some Helo fan fic

As so many of you thought Helo should hook up with Apollo in Season 2 (see the poll or check out the poll archive), I bring you some slash fic for your enjoyment:

Convenient Comfort
Author: McKay (scribbulus_ink)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Apollo/Helo
Summary: Two broken men find a much needed release.
Notes: This is entirely AU, set shortly after KLG2.
I don't read fan fic so I'm not vouching for its quality... I found it over at Battlestar Galactica Slash. In order to be fair, I also offer some Helo/Boomer action:

Nature of the Beast
Author: SabaceanBabe
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Helo/Boomer
Summary: Following the revelations in Nature of the Machine and Nature of the Man, Sharon leaves Helo and Kara, all of them still trapped on Caprica.
"Nature of the Machine" and "Nature of Man" are PG, if that's more what you're looking for. It also occurs to me that Starbuck came in second on the poll, so here's a fic for Helo/Starbuck fans:
Chance Encounters
Author: SabaceanBabe
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Helo/Starbuck, with a bit of Apollo for added spice
Summary: Set 2-3 years before the events portrayed in the mini, Helo and Starbuck meet for the first time over a game of cards…
If you want to find more fan fic, musicforcylons over at LJ has created a link list for BSG Fan Fiction Archives (including her own Octagonal Paper).

"Litmus" Tonight on Sci-Fi @ 10/9c

Will he stay or will he go? Will he follow his head or his heart? The drama plays out tonight on Galactica (wow, I'm obviously practicing for a job at Lifetime).

To inspire you, here's a pic of Helo allegedly from the ep against a strangely painted wall, which never appeared on the show, right?

Meanwhile, on Caprica, a trio of Cylons observe Helo as he tries to save himself and find the woman he thinks is Sharon.
Watch the preview here.

Go to scifi.com for a more complete summary and three deleted scenes. (For any night owls or party-goers out there, "Litmus" also reairs at midnight CST).

Thanks to Gateworld for the image.

All about Tahmoh Penikett now syndicated

Well, actually, there's always been a site feed. But I just added a friendly icon to let you know that (it'll live at the bottom of the sidebar if you want to make friends later):

In other news, MusicforCylons has syndicated the site over at Live Journal for any of you with LJ accounts. The username is allabout_tahmoh.

So now you have more ways to get your Tahmoh news... though to see the pretty pictures you'll have to come here. :)

New Season 2 Spoilers Revealed

The new spoiler tidbits were announced on Subject2Discussion at lvrocks.

You can read about them over at Hollywood North Report.

No new Helo-related info sadly (and unfortunately the squicky 205 plotline has been confirmed). Though some interesting ep 210/211 news (the season break cliffhanger). One wonders whatever happened to eps 206-209...

Lifetime posts more info on Hush

Lifetime has posted a new webpage devoted to Hush, Tahmoh's new movie which airs in a couple weeks.

There's a photo of Tori Spelling and Victoria Pratt looking scared and some random facts about their careers, but no new Tahmoh news/photos sadly.

Tahmoh on "The L Word" (2004)

Tahmoh appeared as a Sheriff in the first season episode "Losing It". (I don't even know what the "L Word" is... love? lust? late? but setting that aside...)

un4scene over at LiveJournal has posted caps of his appearance, including this one:

Poll: Back on Galactica, Helo should...

According to last week's poll most people want Helo to get back to Galactica... this will mean Helo will be sharing the screen with more/all of the cast.

Who in the crew are you most looking forward to Helo interacting with, if he gets back to the ship?

Vote Now!
<---------

If I've left someone vital off, please comment and I'll consider adding them to the poll. To help your case, tell me who I should take off in order to add them. Am I turning this into a game of Survivor? [/pretending like this is a democracy...]

Poll Results: What should Helo do in Season 2?

So if you were writing Season 2, Helo would:

1. get back to Galactica.
2. kiss & make up with Boomer.
3. single-handedly bring down the cylon empire from the inside.
4. get a beer with Tyrol and compare notes
.
Sounds good to me. Not that I'm too picky. Any Helo screentime is good in my book. I'm trying not to worry about Caprica becoming the Starbuck show in Season 2.

"You Can't Go Home Again" Tonight @ 10/9c

Watch tonight's ep for some great Helo vs. Toaster action. It also happens to feature Tahmoh's favorite scene from Season 1 (from his interview on S2D):

Under the Cover online!

ZeD has posted Under the Cover online--for free! (For more on Under the Cover, see my previous posts or the career news archive). ZeD sounds pretty cool. Oh to be Canadian:

ZeD is a launch pad for independent creative expression that uses TV and the Web to seek out and broadcast the best new short films, videos, animation, visual art, performance and music in Canada and around the world.
I'd really recommend watching Below the Belt first as it's the pilot to the series, but if you can't spare the 99 cents, be warned, Jonas (Tahmoh) has:
- retreated under a red blanket.
- declared himself an asexual amoeba.
- broken up with his sex-starved girlfriend, Tabatha.
- Oh and there's a freaky clown.
(I posted a longer review with screen caps earlier).

Here are the links:

Episode 4
Jonas spends most of eps 2&3 covered in his red blanket. But in ep 4 he emerges. It results in some racy action, so beware. (Not work-safe).

More on Under the Cover (2003)

An interview with the director of Under the Cover, Jason Bourque, offers some more details about the project:

Under the Cover, originally titled Below the Belt, is a series of three 10-minute shorts described as "sexy social satire" by Jason Bourque, the Leo Award-winning filmmaker who directed from teleplays by longtime friend and creative collaborator, writer-actress Dominika Wolski....

The bizarre, whimsical pilot, filmed at Saxe Point in Esquimalt over two years ago, was selected for broadcast from over 1,000 submissions. The film... amusingly comments on how the media fuels sexual stereotyping through the tale of a sex-starved woman whose frigid boyfriend claims to be an amoeba trapped in a man's body.

Wolski and Bourque... had originally envisioned a potential series about the rise of the amoebas against the infrastructure, but the tone shifted direction during the creative process.

"It changed from this epic about an amoeba nation to more of a love story," said Bourque, 30, who financed the pilot with his VISA card.

Under the Cover, whose three episodes were filmed back-to-back over six days in nightclubs, parks and coffee shops in Vancouver last month [March 2003], is just one of dozens of projects that have kept Bourque busy....

(From "The Bourque Identity" by Michael D. Reid, Times Colonist, April 2003).
I'm glad they decided against the whole amoebas vs. the infrastructure thing... it was nice to see Tahmoh out from under his blanket eventually.

Tahmoh in Under the Cover (2003)

Wondering about the other items on Tahmoh's filmography? Well IMBD has very little info on the TV movie, Under the Cover (2002), but I've done some research.

In it, Tahmoh reprises his role as Jonas (see Below the Belt); in fact, Under the Cover seems to continue the story started in Below the Belt. It was shot in Vancouver in 2002 and released on Canadian TV (and theatrically) in 2002/2003.

According to GoldStar Productions, the production company:

"Under the Cover" began as a short film that was selected out of 1200 others across Canada to be made into a 4-part mini-series that aired on CBC.

Created by Dominika Wolski, the four episodes follow Jonas and Tabatha (played by Tahmoh Penikett and Dominika) on their road to understanding the pressures of sex and relationships in the new millennium.

Media's influences on modern sexual expectations are at the root of one young man's alienation. His solution is to become an asexual being: an amoeba. Will his peers follow him, as they do every other trend they encounter?
For those curious, a clip is available online. (You'll have to disable your pop-up blocker. Then click on "What We've Done" and scroll to the right to "Under the Cover." Click the film still to download the clip.)

Jonas (Tahmoh) is the one with the red blanket over his head. But really you shouldn't miss this clip. When else will you get to hear Tahmoh yell:

"I am an amoeba, the preacher of the petri-dish!"

UPDATE: Link to all the episodes and screen caps now posted!

Photos of Tahmoh from Stargate SG-1

Thanks to Amsie (shadowserenity) over at LiveJournal for pointing me to these photos of Tahmoh on "Stargate SG-1" over at the Abydos Gate Database. She also helpfully explained Tahmoh's role:

"Tahmoh played the role of Third, one of the six human Replicators (a race of machines). At the conclusion of “Unnatural Selection”, Third and the others are frozen in time by SG-1 and an Asgard time dilation device."
Awh. Poor Tahmoh frozen in time. Equally tragic, he seems to have had only one line: "THIRD: We are composed of millions of cell units. Microscopic in comparison that combine to create this form." Oh, what a line.

Here's MGM's description of the episode, "Unnatural Selection":
Story by : Robert C. Cooper, Brad Wright
Directed by: Andy Mikita
Episode Number: 612
Guest Stars: Ian Buchanan as First, Patrick Currie as Fifth, Kristina Copeland as Second, Tahmoh Penikett as Third, Rebecca Robbins as Fourth, Shannon Powell as Sixth, and Gary Jones as Technician

Synopsis : After rescuing SG-1 , the Asgard leader Thor asks SG-1 help fight the Replicators that have overrun his homeworld. The Replicators, spider-like robots that have the ability to think and evolve, consume everything in their path with an instinctive thirst for the knowledge and experience of those they devour. Thor explains that the Asgard lured millions of the creatures to the planet in an attempt to slow their evolution with a time dilator. Instead the Replicators used the device to speed up time, allowing them to evolve at an astonishing rate. SG-1 finds the planet paved in a layer of metal replicator bricks miles thick. Five humans confront the team and order Carter to stop tinkering with the time dilator. When she refuses, the humans reveal that they are actually Replicators that have used nano-technology to take on human appearance.
Watch a preview here. (Tahmoh's not in it though).

Having never seen the show, I have to admit the description doesn't do alot for me, but the pictures are pretty:

Poll: What should Helo do in Season 2?

If you were writing Season 2, what would happen to Helo?

I've thought up some options, but feel free to comment and tell me your vision...

Personally, I think it'd be fabulous if #10 (single-handedly bring down the cylon empire from the inside) came about. I'm envisioning that episode of the original Star Trek where the Enterprise crew overcomes the army of beautiful robots ruled by Harry Mudd purely by the power of illogic.

(Thanks to my wonderful fiance for numbers 1, 9, & 10. I'll try not to read too much into the harem comment.)

Poll Results: Why are you here?

Thanks to everyone who voted in this week's poll. It was very interesting and helpful for me. So "What would you like to see more of on this site?"... the answers are in:

1. Images
2. Tahmoh career news
3. Spoilers
In response to popular demand, I've added a photo album (see under Tahmoh Images in the sidebar). I'm sorry about all the ads, but the image hosting was free... does anyone know of a better service?

As alot of people were clamoring for more career news, I archived what I've posted so newer visitors can check out what they may have missed. Look under Archives in the sidebar. I hope my posts about Below the Belt and The Winner have helped satisfy your interest. I plan to post about other career news as I find it.

I've also archived all the interviews with Tahmoh I've come across, as well as all the music videos and polls that I've posted. Of course you can also just go back through the month by month archives to find older posts.

As for spoilers, I think I'm going keep posting them the way I have been, but start putting the actual spoilers in a comment to the post, so that those who want to know can read them just by clicking the comment. Any objections?

I always appreciate feedback. If you're enjoying the site, please let me know. Or if there's something I could do better, I'd also like to hear it.
