Early Tahmoh article (Sept. 2003)

Just came across this brief article/interview with Tahmoh from 2003, "Yukoner hits big time on small screen." In it he talks about his father and his decision to become an actor:

"I grew up with a guy [his father] working 13, 14 hours a day his whole life and travelling a lot," he says. "Some of the time we did get to spend together when I was younger was watching films, he's always had a passion for good films, he's quite the critic himself."
Tahmoh made very similar remarks more recently during his S2D radio interview. Listen/read here.

A Yukoner whose acting career is starting to take off says his father deserves some of the credit.

Tahmoh Penikett has been given a lead role this season in the CTV police drama, Cold Squad.

He's playing an ambitious young cop.

Penikett's father, Tony, was premier of the Yukon for two terms in the late 80s.

The son says his dad influenced his decision to go into acting. He said his workaholic father connected with his son through the movies.

"I grew up with a guy working 13, 14 hours a day his whole life and travelling a lot," he says. "Some of the time we did get to spend together when I was younger was watching films, he's always had a passion for good films, he's quite the critic himself."

The young Penikett has been studying acting in B.C. for the past three years and picking up occasional roles in television shows.

Besides Cold Squad, his other big part this year is in the Battlestar Galactica mini-series set to run before Christmas.
