We're still here

I promise. I haven't abandoned All About Tahmoh Penikett. The news has been a bit slow and summer has been a bit busy so I've not posted in a while. I'm hoping to grab some screen caps from The Killing in the next couple weeks. Keep your fingers crossed - we may even have a few surprises to share. For now...

Links originally posted at the Facebook site (follow us there if you're on FB).

Netflix Subscribers can stream many of Tahmoh's earlier movies and television series, including the following (I'll update the list as I find more or they become available):

Just because I can, I'm reposting the flickr link to screen caps Justine took of Tahmoh as Elias Noth in Whistler, which is my all-time favorite Tahmoh role. I don't know any place you can still legally watch Whistler, so these pictures are all I can share until (if?) it becomes available.

On-set photos of Tahmoh from Galactica & Whistler

Michael Trucco has posted some great behind-the-scenes photos on the Battlestar set to his website, several of which feature Tahmoh. Here are a few of them; see the site for more!

Holly Dignard also has posted some on-set photos with Tahmoh from Whistler to her site. You can find them in the "Media" section, under "Press Candids."

Tahmoh supports Holly's charity Caleb's Hope. See his message of support and a description of the charity's work here.

Tahmoh supports Caleb's Hope (charity)

Tahmoh and several other Battlestar cast members are supporting Caleb's Hope, a charity spearheaded by Holly Dignard (with whom Tahmoh starred in Whistler). Tahmoh requested I communicate his support of this effort here:

It's something that my friend and castmate from Whistler, Holly Dignard has organized. She did a photo shoot recently with different people to help bring attention to the site. Check it out!
A post over at Battlestar Blog explains the charity and the BSG connections:
Caleb’s Hope is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable women and children affected by war, poverty, and HIV/AIDS. Caleb’s Hope helps provide access to improved healthcare, education, and generates innovative job-creation programs. The organization currently has projects in Kenya and Uganda with hopes to expand throughout East Africa and eventually worldwide.

Holly Elissa Dignard (Asha Janik, Demand Peace activist/saboteur in Epiphanies) started Caleb’s Hope not only to raise awareness but to get people from all walks of life involved and engaged in the world around them. Please see the website for more on the story behind Caleb’s Hope and some amazing pictures and stories from Holly’s travels to Uganda and Kenya....

Your questions answered: Tahmoh on his favorite guest role, Jack Nicholson & more!

So lots of you have been sending in questions for Tahmoh via the question post linked at the top of the page and I'm pleased to report that Tahmoh has begun to answer them! He'll be answering more questions as he has the time. So if you have something you've been wondering, ask it now here.

1. What has been your favorite guest role on a television series and why?

I think my favorite guest role on a television series was the character of Elias on the CTV series, Whistler. It was one of the first roles ever offered to me without audition and once I heard about the character and arc of the story I was sold. Other than acting school I'd never had the opportunity to play a character like Elias. Elias is an up and coming artist and sculptor who is a bit of a recluse, living in a small studio in the woods outside of Whistler.

What was so attractive about the role was that Elias was at one time a drug addict on the streets of Vancouver. He's a very private man and still holds a lot of anger and distrust for others. I have people close to me who've had similar experiences so the story is very much close to home. Once I got the script I wrote back story for hours. Starting with his childhood all the way up to what the writers had already given me. I also had the opportunity to work with Holly Dignard and we shared an immediate connection and delved into making our story as best as we could.
2. Which of your roles to date has been most like you, which has been least like you, and which of those two was more challenging?
I don't think I can say that any role has been most like me or not like me. I mean really as actors regardless of how well the character is written you are always bringing yourself to the role. I would like to think that I would be as brave and selfless as Helo has been in so many of the situations he's faced. I think that you can tell a lot about an actor through his performance. I think that's what's so brilliantly done by a talented actor, even when playing the antagonist you can't help but root for some actors because their charisma shines regardless of how evil of a character they play. Can anyone say Jack Nicholson?!

Then to counter that last point I think the best character actors can completely transform and regardless of how big of a celebrity they are you are lost in their performance and sometimes they can make you absolutely love or hate them. I'm constantly amazed at the emotion and conversation a great performance will provoke.

Elias returns in season finale of Whistler!

For those following Tahmoh's guest arc as Elias Noth on the Canadian drama, Whistler, his character returned in the show's season finale (2x13 - "Last Run") on Saturday. I've uploaded screencaps of his scenes to the site's Flickr.

See screencaps of Elias from previous Whistler episodes here. Canadian fans can watch the episode online at the CTV website.

See the rest of the screencaps!

Looks like we'll have to help lobby to get Whistler renewed for a third season!

Reports from the recent BSG Bubank Con

Thanks to mamaboolj, lizardbeth-j, beetlemier and greycoupon for sharing their detailed reports about Tahmoh's appearance at the Official Battlestar Galactica Convention two weeks ago in Burbank, CA. I've excerpted a few sentences of each below, but be sure to check out the full reports!

mamaboolj on Whistler:

"Tahmoh said that the part of Elias had been given to him and that he’d taken the opportunity to write back-story. With three of us being writers of fanfic, we of course asked him what it was. He talked a bit about the drug problems in Vancouver, particularly among the First Nations, and said he drew on experiences of people he knew with drug problems."
Read mamaboolj's full report.

During the con, fans had a chance to have their photo taken with Tahmoh. Thanks to LilFerret for sharing her photo op (at right).

LizardBeth recalls Tahmoh:
"did a wicked EJO impression from when the mini had finished: 'Good hero shot, son, you'll be back." he talked about the much hated line from AMoS, "The cylons tried to live with us on New Caprica", and how he tried to say the line like he didn't believe it and Mary McDonnell then totally pwned him, adlibbing her follow up, "Oh really, Captain" and left him completely flat-footed. He said he wanted to be in the position of his career later to get away with doing that."
Read LizardBeth's full report (& see the only dessert party photo I've seen).

beetlemier asked Tahmoh:
"how he prepared as an actor for the huge changes n his story arcs. Miniseries – supposedly dead, Season 1 revolved around Sharon, and then last season he’s XO. He said that he doesn’t prepare and just rolls with what he’s given. “So, I’m the XO now, OK!” "
Read beetlemier's full report (& see her photos).

greycoupon recalls:
"Someone asked when Helo and Sharon got married. Tahmoh said he had wondered who threw the bachelor party while Grace wanted to know who they invited. He thought Kara organized the party as she does all the parties."

Screencaps of Tahmoh in Saturday’s Whistler (208)

Tahmoh continued his guest-star turn on Canada's Whistler this past Saturday in the appropriately titled episode, "Crossroads." His storyline took a dramatic turn, as you can see from the 150+ screencaps over on the site's Flickr page.

Tahmoh’s guest arc on Whistler continues

Huge thanks to rebelliousrose and mamaboolj for sponsoring a Flickr account for the site, just in time for this Saturday's new Whistler episode, "Crossroads" (2x08). You can always find the site's photos at:

Thus far it only has pics from Tahmoh's last two appearances on Whistler, but I'll add galleries as I post. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the photos:
Tahmoh's character, the artist Elias Noth, did not appear in Whistler 2x07 - "Out of Bounds," but he was referenced by Nicole in two scenes. Thanks to mamaboolj for typing up what was said:

Scene #1: Nicole Miller and Jen McKaye in Jen's bar. Nicole's looking at pictures from the wedding she left early only to come home to find Elias waiting at her house.
Nicole: Who ended up with the bouquet?
Jen: Tara's niece. I think she's six.
Nicole: That figures.
Jen: Too bad your tortured artist couldn't make it.
Nicole: Yeah well. That's still new right. And complicated. But what isn't right?
Scene #2:
Nicole watches as workmen place a statue in the hotel lobby. It's the same one she told Elias upon first meeting him that she would "walk right past". While she's contemplating the statue, Ryan, an ex of sorts, comes up behind her.
Ryan: That's beautiful.
Nicole: Elias is letting us showcase it while he's in New York.
Ryan: From what I hear, he doesn't do that sort of thing for just anyone.
(Nicole doesn't respond, but smiles broadly and then acts a little embarrassed.)
Ryan: You look happy.
Nicole: Yeah. I guess I am.
ETA: YouTube has taken down the videos.

Screen caps of Tahmoh on Saturday’s Whistler (206)

Tahmoh's arc on the Canadian OC-esque soap Whistler continued on Saturday in episode 2x06, "Always a Bridesmaid." Tahmoh was again featured in about five scenes. I made a bunch of screen caps and added them to the site's Flickr page. See caps from his first appearance here.

Unfortunately, the site has now run into the limit of a free Flickr account (200 photos). So I can in the future either:

  • post only a dozen or so caps of future episodes to AATP (as I was doing previously)
  • post the screen caps to some other free site (suggestions?)
  • upgrade to a Flickr Pro account for $24.95.
Comment here or email me (all.about.tahmoh[at]gmail.com) if you have an opinion. If you'd like to keep seeing lots of caps, I'd ask that everyone support the site in whatever way they can:
  • Free! - Make all your Amazon purchases by clicking through the ads below. (Preorder Razor or buy the BSG S3 soundtrack!)
  • Cheap! - Donate via the secure PayPal button in the right sidebar.
  • Pricier - Gift All.about.tahmoh a Flickr Pro account.
  • More work - Offer to host the images on your own site.
If no one responds, I'll go back to posting only a dozen or so screen caps.

Screen caps of Tahmoh on Whistler (205)

Tahmoh guest-starred as the difficult artist "Elias Noth" on most recent episode of the Canadian series Whistler. He appeared in about a half dozen scenes (roughly 12 minutes) of the episode, which you can watch online if you live in Canada (if you don't, email me to see Tahmoh's scenes).

His character will appear in at least 3 more episodes of Whistler, which airs on Saturdays at 9pm on CTV. Here are a few screencaps, but be sure to see the rest over at Flickr:

Sorry the caps are so small, if anyone has a higher-res or HD copy of the episode, please let me know!
